    CNET Review

    January 12, 2006

The Good: Toshiba's MyConnect service offers local dial-up numbers and Ethernet access, an easy-to-use connection utility, 24/7 toll-free phone support, and reasonable rates.

The Bad: With no WEP, WPA, or 802.11x security for U.S. hot spots, fewer wireless access points than the competition, and a hot-spot directory that lacks street addresses and phone numbers, Toshiba's MyConnect service lags behind competitors such as Boingo Wireless and T-Mobile HotSpot.

The Bottom Line: If you're still relying on dial-up and Ethernet connections when you're on the road, Toshiba's MyConnect service makes for a compelling option, but Boingo and T-Mobile HotSpot offer better all-around packages.
