The Good: The Philips PET1002 is a top-notch portable DVD player that offers a sleek design as well as a huge 10-inch screen with excellent image quality. In addition to DVDs and CDs, it plays MPEG-4 and DivX video files and MP3 and JPEG CD-Rs. It includes a car adapter, a component-video output, and two headphone inputs, and the battery life is improved from last year's version.
The Bad: Thanks to its large screen, the Philips PET1002 is expensive and rather hefty. The playback mechanism can be a little noisy when starting up or searching for files.
The Bottom Line: A large 10-inch screen, a sleek design, and great battery life put the Philips PET1002 at the forefront of the portable big-screen DVD player category.
