The Good: The MP3 SoundMate features a unique design that helps protect your device while offering an external speaker to output music. The case also offers a pouch and card slots for storing other items you might need at the beach or poolside, it works with any portable audio device, and it's inexpensive.
The Bad: Though passable, the MP3 SoundMate's sound output has a muffled quality and virtually no bass response. The battery compartment is janky, making the unit difficult to power on at times.
The Bottom Line: The MP3 SoundMate is a portable outdoor speaker unit that will protect your MP3 player from the elements and let you share your tunes--just don't expect those tunes to sound fantastic.
