New evidence shows Microsoft with a widening lead in the browser war.
Its Internet Explorer claims a nearly 90% usage share, according to new data from WebSideStory's StatMarket (see below).
Usage share is the percentage of Web surfers using a particular browser while visiting one of nearly 200,000 sites with WebSideStory's HitBox audience analysis technology. The sample size is more than 50 million surfers a day.
Netscape 6 was released last week and might make a dent in the numbers in coming months. But I wouldn't bet on it.
