Have you noticed a slight slowdown while surfing lately?

So have the experts. Overall performance is worse this week -- going from 14.48 to 14.89 seconds -- according to new data from the Keynote/AnchorDesk Consumer 40 Index (see below).

The speed leader remains Ameritrade, with four portals rounding out the top five.

GROUP SPEEDS
The fastest cateogry? Portal/search. Next comes brokerage sites, followed by e-shopping and travel.

CONVENTION WATCH
The Ds win this race, with times just under six seconds over T1/T3 lines. Not bad. One factor hurting the Rs' site: a home page nearly twice as large as the enemy.

Post acceptance speech download times for George Dubyuh's site more than double. Why? Increased traffic is the likely reason.

Veep Gore's site is a no-show following his speech.
