After two decades, tens of thousands of columns, and untold typos, John is taking his leave from our column, Hits & Hype. Actually we made a lot of that up--except for the parts about typos and John leaving.

In reality, it's been just two years, but that's a long time in the technology world. Along the way, we had a chance to cover many cool products, and every once in a while, torture our readers with digressions on Clippy, dying dot-coms, and dumb business ideas.

On a more serious note, we'd just like to take the opportunity to thank you for sticking with us for the ride. And don't lose any sleep over John--he's just fine, and will be focusing on his new column on our sister site, CNET.com.

But never fear, Hits & Hype lives on. Josh will carry the torch, ensuring that a fresh copy continues to appear in your inbox twice a week. The column won't be the same--for one thing, it will have only half the typos and grammatical errors--but it'll still deliver all the inside dope on new products first.

Without further ado, here are the notable new reviews this week.
