Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display 
A display technology developed by Toshiba and Canon that uses phosphors activated by an electron emitter, just as standard CRT tube televisions do. Supposedly, the result is tube-level picture quality in a flat form factor. SED TVs are not yet available, but the partners claim these TVs will offer low power consumption, fast response time, and high resolution.
