null-modem cable
A type of computer cable used to allow two computers to communicate via their serial ports (RS-232). It eliminates using modems and phone lines for hooking together computers that are no more than 30 feet apart. Null-modem connections are useful for file transfers, remote control, or special applications such as head-to-head gaming.
